Sometimes fate needs a little help…

Jonah Wallace knows what it’s like to grow up without love. Despite having more money than the Queen of England, his childhood was cold and stale as he grew up in boarding schools. He’s dedicated his life to helping homeless and displaced children find the love and support they need by creating the Haven House Foundation, work that resulted in him being Knighted by the Queen.

Now that he’s living in America, his work is going along just fine…until his grandfather gives fate a little nudge by insisting he take a wife before he can inherit.

Coffee shop owner, Maggie Bonelli, is pregnant and the baby’s dad has gone AWOL. She knows too well the pain of growing up without a daddy. So when Jonah Wallace comes into her shop proposing marriage for a year, she takes him up on his offer, even if it’s only for a year. Live in a mansion and give her baby a name and a daddy to call his/her own. But can they keep their perfect arraignment strictly business…or will fate’s helping hand bring them love at last?

My Review

The Knight and Maggie’s Baby was a very easy read. The storyline wasn’t complicated, it was straightforward and easy to grasp. The characters too, were likable and overall, the story was good and convincing. However, I just couldn’t feel the connection to the book. As in, a spark was missing. What spark exactly, I can’t tell you. It could be that I couldn’t really feel the sexual tension that was supposed to be between the characters or their frustration. Basically, what I’m trying to say is that I couldn’t feel them, i.e. their emotions.

However, on the whole, the book really was quite good. I wouldn’t say it was incredibly witty, or extremely addictive. Rather, it was a really sweet book and as I was reading it, I could just see their love through the little things they did. It was more evident in Jonah’s case though. And that guy is one hot, but yet, so so sweet guy!

Alright, time for a short summary.

Basically, Jonah has to get married quickly in order to get his estate. Its not much of him wanting it, he just doesn’t want it to pass out of the family. Which is what his grandfather threatens to do if he doesn’t get married within a certain time. So he was about to get married, but was jilted at the altar. Other than losing his pride, he didn’t really lose anything because they weren’t in love. But she took his car when leaving so she could meet her fiancĂ©. And hence, he was stranded. Which was when he stumbled into Maggie’s cafĂ©. Instantly, there was a strong attraction. Out of impulse, he asked her to marry him after only knowing her for about 45 minutes. Maggie was pregnant but the father didn’t want the baby, seeing as it wasn’t intended. She wanted to give her baby a name because she didn’t want him/her to be teased in the future, which was what happened to her in the past. Hence, she agreed. The agreement was to be married for a year. As you can guess, they fell in love. How? That’s what the story is about. They live happily ever after:) But then again, isn’t this how all romance books are like?

This was a sweet read. Nothing complicated, simply a story where two very different people meet, and against all odds, fall in love. There weren’t any real conflicts where they broke up for a while. When they were living together, you could just see them falling in love with each other.

There’s really nothing much to say about this book. There was nothing bad about it, but neither was there anything really exceptional about it. It was a good book and an enjoyable read, but with a very simple and straightforward storyline. Though it didn’t bring out a lot of feelings within me, I did like reading the book.

I wouldn’t recommend this book to people who needs action, passion and such in the books they read. Because this book doesn’t have that. I’m not complaining, I actually do like books that are just sweet, nothing more, nothing less. But I would definitely recommend this book to someone who wants an easy, sweet read to pass the time. Because this book just is so sweet.

Overall, the characters were nice to read about. Though there wasn’t much character development, I liked them. Jonah is just so so so sweet please? Sigh, he isn’t like normal rich guys, pretty aloof and all. He’s so sweet to Maggie, through his every action, I felt his love for her.

They were also very real. I could relate to them and how they felt but I couldn’t feel the same way. Its like, I could understand their feelings but it didn’t evoke any feelings in me.

As for the plot, there’s really nothing to say about it. There weren’t any gaping holes in it or anything special about it. If anything, it was a little dull. I felt it a little too straightforward and could practically predict their next actions. And I know I’ve said this a thousand times, but the plot was sweet.

All in all, I really do enjoy this book and I felt that it was a very sweet and good read. Recommended for people after a sweet and easy read.
