And now, let's welcome Payal to the blog to have a little chat with us! :)
Hey! It’s lovely to have you on the blog today! So, shall we begin? J
Ans: A big hello to everyone! Thanks for this wonderful opportunity to share my voice with millions of reader and blogger friends in this virtual world. Let's begin!
For starters, why not tell us a little about yourself? Perhaps something not many people know?
Ans: My name is Payal Roy and I am based in Europe . I am first and foremost an avid reader, a bookworm you can say. I specialize in finance and have been working in this sector for quite a while. However, my love for books and writing finally brought out my inner calling towards the writing career and now I am a full time writer, a published author and poet, and I love my work!
What made you want to become a writer?
Ans: I can recall, when I was in the sixth grade we had an assignment in our literature class wherein we were asked to create an original poem. I was an avid reader since childhood, and as I attempted to write an original poem, I could feel the words of poetry come to me naturally. From that moment, there was no looking back. As I grew up, writing stories, novella and poetry became a part of my life- a parallel world for me you can say. As I wrote stories and poems one after the other, they inspired me all the more to pursue this fantastic world of writing.
Do you have any hidden talents? *wink*
Ans: Let me think...I can say creating poetry out of thin air anytime of the day and coming up with short stories to perk up my mood and rejuvenate myself to do some serious writing later on--maybe that can be a talent? That's because I was somewhat shy in childhood and so, very few people knew about my writing skills since childhood. When my books began to get published in the online leading bookstores after I grew up, they came to know about the hidden writer in me. :-)
What gives you inspiration for your book(s)?
Ans: I often read blogs of other fellow author friends-both indie authors and traditional authors and I love their continuous and renewed enthusiasm about writing. I also find that nature in all her beauty has this miraculous ability to inspire and rejuvenate my mind. So, I am inspired for my books from nature, from optimistic and positive views on life by my fellow author friends, from the multitude of events that occur in my life and leave some notes of bittersweet wisdom and of course from the books I come across that take me into their own world of fantasy, fiction and intrigue.
Are your characters based off real people, or did they all come entirely from your imagination?
Ans: My present book 12 Precious Anecdotes From Life is a work of fiction, and the characters in the book came from the figments of my imagination.
Could you tell us a bit about your book and why it is a must-read?
Ans: My current book 12 Precious Anecdotes from Life is a novella. It is a work of fiction with a touch of adventure, drama and inspiration from life, with a little dash of supernatural element thrown in a few of the chapters. It is a collection of 12 short stories that would take you into the fictitious, yet an intriguing world of the characters each of whom have a special story to share with you. 12 people have their paths crossed with a common friend-the protagonist. Somehow they reveal a few secrets to her and their lives change forever. Do their lives change in a good way or a bad way? How is their common friend affected?
Each story brings in front of you a gradual unraveling of their characters and why they are so special to the protagonist. When you read the stories, I think you will realize the underlying message from each story, which have an amusing, and an interesting tale to tell. The book is a short read, and if you want to relax on a summer's day, or on a weekend with a short, riveting read, try out 12 Precious Anecdotes from Life. So, I believe this book is a must-read.

What do you love most about the writing process?
Ans: I don't have any particular preference about the writing process. I like the entire writing process with equal zeal and enthusiasm. When I begin to write, I can see my characters in my mind's eye, interacting with one another and unraveling their stories, which my pen writes down, or my fingers type into the WordPad. It is fun; a wonderful experience and I can say that writing is one of the best jobs in the world!
And of course, do you have a particular favorite character? I know an author will love most if not all of the characters he/she creates, but I’m sure there must be a favorite of yours! So who is it, and why?
Ans: I love all my characters in my book 12 Precious Anecdotes from Life, but amongst them my favorite is the lead protagonist in my book. Her name is Anita Maher.
Anita is the common friend of the 12 characters who bump into her so suddenly, and their secrets begin to unravel gradually. Anita is always enthusiastic about a new find, she holds special moments close to her heart and is always in search for uniqueness and has a never give up attitude. A free spirited person, she hates being tied down, and is ready to learn from the events taking place about her and exudes a mix of various emotions. I found her to be the perfect protagonist for my book.
Will you tell us a little about your plans for the future, and maybe other books that are in the works? (Ideas thought out, perhaps even a rough draft?)
Ans: I plan to write a host of short stories and novels in future like my present book 12 Precious Anecdotes from Life. I want to try out the genres of fantasy, romance and young adult. I am also writing another book on poetry, it is of the genre- speculative fantasy poetry. The poetry book would contain a collection of poems from mainly speculative genre with a touch of fiction and inspirational genres.
