My Review

Sandman was an unexpected surprise. But a pleasant surprise to be sure. Now I must admit, I don’t read a lot of mysteries and thrillers. I’m more of the pure romance type. But when I read this, I found myself loving it as much as if I was reading my favorite genre. It was a very well-written story, perhaps with a little bit of grammatical errors inside. But a very small bit. Like 5 words? I don’t know, I wasn’t keeping count. What I want to say is that this was a great read and I didn’t feel bored while reading it. I definitely enjoyed the journey this book took me on.

Meagan is pretty unlucky when it comes to guys. It seems like she never ever gets the decent guys, only the jerks and those with problems. I’m not going to talk about her past and present because that may give away a clue to the book. However, I can and will talk about her. She’s a great character. Her inner strength is really amazing. Even though terrible things happen to her, she somehow finds the will to live on and to continue surviving. Now, I definitely respect that.

As for Thomas, he’s a homicide detective. And definitely hot:P Anyway, his wife passed away a few years back and he was extremely affected by it. He loved her too much. But it was only until he met Meagan that he began to recover from her death and fall in love once more. He’s also really smart and a good detective.

I loved the plot of the book. It was really well thought out and I loved seeing how the mystery was solved bit by bit. From the start, I thought I was sure who the murderer was. Turns out, I was completely wrong about it. I was very amazed when I discovered who the murderer was. The events of the last few pages really had my heart racing and I was so so nervous. Even though I knew that they would have a happy ending, there was always that what if. Well, I would have liked it to be more drawn out though. I think the emotional impact would have been greater. As it is, I only felt a scare and became nervous for the character. However, I didn’t feel that emotionally connected to the character involved. I mean, sure I was scared for him/her. But I wasn’t freaking out about it. Get what I mean? I don’t really know how to put it actually.

In any case, this was really a very good book and I’m so glad that I grabbed the opportunity to read it. When it was offered to me to read and review as part of a blog tour, I was hesitant to say the least. I actually almost deleted the mail. But something stayed my hand and I’m so grateful for it. Because I got to read this great book. The mystery and plot was at the perfect pace, each bit was tantalizingly revealed little by little. The characters were likable and though I may not have felt so strongly for or against them, I did like them and the role they had in this book. The storyline was interesting and it captivated me almost right from the start. Definitely a book I would recommend.
