Dystopia Reading Challenge 2014

This challenge is hosted by Blog of Erised!

Love Dystopian books? Then this is just the right thing for you! If you're as big of a fan as I am of post-apocalyptic dystopia books (and even if your are not) you are welcome to join the challenge!

We will try to read 24 Dystopian books in 2014 as the challenge goal, which means 2 per month, if you would like to read them monthly. You can of course make your own schedule and read less or more than that. 2 per month is plenty because it still gives you time to explore and love books from other genres. 

At the end of the year there will also be a giveaway with great prizes!

Rules

> The challenge will run from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2014. Each month will have its own link form so you will be able to share your book reviews. You do not have to review the books you read to participate, but only those who read/reviewed at least one dystopian book will be able to participate in the giveaway (you can track your reading without the reviews with Goodreads, Shelfari etc.).

> Books that count in this challenge must include any form of post-apocalyptic theme (book sites like Goodreads are good sources of genre information). The books must be full-length.

> All formats allowed.

> Rereads allowed (but not the same book five times in a year!).

> It does not matter whether it's a series or a stand-alone book.

> If you are participating, grab the challenge button from below and post it on you blog. You can also make a post with the header (the code is also below). Please include the link back to this post so others will be able to participate as well.

> If you will participate, put the sign-up link to your blog post (about the challenge) or blog (for the button) directly into the linky below. Sign-ups will be open until December 15, 2014.

> You do not have to list your books in advance, go and do as you please. Read as many as you want and whenever you want, as long as you have fun!

> Info about the giveaway will be available in December 2014.
> Do not cheat with books of other themes/genres/topics because I do check!

Level 4: Leader (19+ books)

Each time you reach a new level, you will receive a badge.

Seriously Series Reading Challenge 2014

General Overview

How serious about series are you? We'll find out in 2014.

In the summer of 2012, Amanda @ On a Book Bender and I hosted an informal challenge that focused on completing books in series that we owned. It was enough of a success that we decided we wanted to turn it into a year-long challenge--with a few minor changes.

While Amanda is unable to host it with me this year, she is a huge part in the creation and implementation of this challenge and I couldn't have attempted to put it together without her. Thank you, Amanda!

Definitions

For this challenge, a series is defined as a collection of two or more books that belong together and where the second book is published before the end of 2014. This is a pretty broad definition of series, and it includes traditional series like the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, less traditional series like Stephanie Perkins's YA contemps (Anna and the French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next Door), and shorter series, like Kendare Blake's Anna series (Anna Dressed in Blood, Girl of Nightmares).

A series is considered complete in one of two ways: either as finishing all the books that you own in the series or as obtaining and reading all the books that have been published in the series to date. Because we don't want this challenge to become a financial burden, how you choose to define completion is left to your discretion.

How It Works

To allow for the greatest level of flexibility, we've separated series into three categories: series started before 2014, series started in 2014, and series rereads.

• Series started before 2014 are defined as series that you have started reading before Jan. 2014 and that you still have unread books to get current in (or finish) the series.
• Series started in 2014 are defined as any series that you start reading between Jan. and Dec. 2014, and the second book in the series must be published before December 2014.
• A series reread is defined as books that are part of a series that were read before Jan. 2014 and that are reread between Jan. 2014 and Dec. 2014. A series reread does NOT have to include the full series.

For each category, there are different levels of seriousness about series that you can choose. Semi-serious is reading 1 to 6 series, seriously serious is reading 7 to 12 series, super seriously serious is reading 13 to 18 series, and seriously spectacular series star is reading more than 18 series. What this ends up looking like is this:

FYI, reading novellas and short stories from a series does count here -- if you want it to!

Jumble Your Genres Reading Challenge 2014

I got this off Lovin' Los Libros, so head there to sign up too! :)

So this year Readers Live A Thousand Lives, Corrie The Book Crazed Girl, and Lovin' Los Libros have teamed up to host the Jumble Your Genres Reading Challenge! For this challenge, the goal is to mix up the genres/categories we read. We have all had those times when we have gotten stuck in the genre/category we are currently reading and read nothing else for a while. The goal here is to mix that up! Each month we will feature a different genre/category and the goal is to read and review one book or more in that genre/category during that month.

Each month the hosting blogs will have a post featuring the genre/category for that month. There will be a linky for you to link up and share your review for the book(s) for the featured genre/category. So make sure you come back each month to check out our reads and share yours! You do not need a blog to participate, goodreads or booklikes works too! Below is the schedule of what genre/category we plan to read each month!

A to Z April Challenge Promo!

Hey guys!!!

Been a long time since I posted anything other than blog tours! Real sorry, school has been... crazy!! But yes, today's post is about the A to Z April Challenge! Haven't heard of it? It's simple, really! At least, the rules are simple! The challenge, not so. I sure hope I can complete it! Oh yes, so, the rules. Basically, you have to post almost everyday in the month of April. Each day, with the exception of Sunday, the post will be about a certain letter. It goes alphabetical order. Ok, I'm just confusing you guys here so I'll illustrate.

April 1 - Post on letter 'A'
April 2 - Post on letter 'B'
April 3 - Post on letter 'C'

This will continue until the end of the month! However, you don't have to post on Sundays. Therefore, on 8 April, Sunday, instead of posting the letter 'G', you'll post 'G' on 9 April, Monday, instead.

Yep, so the posts can be about anything at all, as long as it has something to do with the letter for that day! Easy to understand? Ok, you know, I'm not that good at explaining things! Why not check out the official website? http://www.a-to-zchallenge.com

So yes, I'm taking part in this challenge and I wanna invite all of you guys to take part in this challenge with me too! Sure, its difficult, posting 6 days a week. But a challenge isn't meant to be easy, is it? I guess, a way that can help is to have a rough idea what you're gonna post for that day a few days before. Plan what you want to write about, so when it comes to that day, you won't suddenly have a brain freeze and be unable to complete the challenge. Oh and of course, brainstorm words to use for everyday first!

And because this is a book blog, I'm gonna do things a little differently. All my posts will be book-related. At least, most of them. For example, I'm thinking of using 'R' for Romance, my fav genre. And maybe 'N' for names - characters, book titles, etc. Yeah, it won't be that easy, but I guess I should just start planning already!

Challenge Time: New Author Challenge 2012

Now, this is what I call a challenge. I love to read, but I seem to always be reading the same authors over and over again. I really want to get out there and read new authors, but I never can bring myself to! Now, with a challenge, there'll be added motivation for me to do so because I hate to fail at something I've started! Alright, here are the guidelines, taken directly from here!

The challenge will run from January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012.
Since this is an author challenge, there is no restriction on choosing your novels. They can definitely be from other challenges. However, the authors must be new to you and, preferably from novels. Anthologies are a great way to try someone new, but only a third of your new authors can be from anthologies.
I want this to be an easy challenge, so you can pick to do either 15, 25 or 50 new authors. It all depends on how fast you read and how adventurous you want to be. For me, I want to say I’m going to do another 50 new authors, but with two kids, I didn’t made my goal in 2011, so I’m going to be smarter and say 25. If you reach your goal halfway through the year, don’t stop. Any new author you try can be added to Mr. Linky. We all want to know about your new experience.
After reading your new author, write your review and then come back here and add your link to Mr. Linky. Make sure you include your name and the author, but adding the title is completely up to you.
Bloggers or Non-Bloggers alike are welcome. You don’t have to have a site to participate. You can link up via Facebook, GoodReads or even Amazon if you’d like.
Once you reach your goal, you don’t have to stop. Any new author you try, go ahead and head back here and add it to the list. Introduce us all to whoever you find. Afterall, there’s no reason to stop trying new authors, right?

Can't wait to start! I don't have any solid list, but I have some authors in mind already! And I want to make the challenge more difficult so I'm gonna limit myself to not more than 10 new Harlequin authors. I mean, the books are so short and they have so many authors, it really isn't a challenge to read new ones! I wanna get the main ones from historical romances and some from contemporary romance because I've been searching in vain for an author to compare up to my favorite author, Judith Mcnaught and I haven't found one yet! Of course, I haven't really been searching!

So! Another challenge! I'm really intrigued by this challenge. I love challenges. Sigh. I really don't know what I'm getting myself into! So this is actually a monthly kind of challenge? But I'll try my best to participate every month! :D

The 2012 Reading Romances Challenge will run from Jan 1, 2012 – Dec 31, 2012.
Anyone can join, you don’t need to have a blog. Feel free to sign-up in the comments – you can post reviews to any book site (i.e. Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Smashwords, Goodreads, Librarything, Shelfari etc).
I’ll post a list of romance sub-genres and a few cool themes for you to choose from each month (you can read all of them or just a couple).
You can list your books before reading them (by leaving a comment on the post with the topics for that month) or just put them in a wrap-up post. If you list them, don’t feel obligated to read them, changes are welcomed!
When you sign up in the linky, put the direct link to your post about joining the Reading Romances Challenge. If you don’t have a blog, please link it to the page where you post your reviews (Goodreads, Shelfari, Amazon etc).
You don’t have to participate every month, but please try to!

I will never tell you to read one specific author, but I might suggest a few titles and authors to give you some ideas.

Challenges Time: Antonym Reading Challenge 2012

Hey guys! So, I'll be participating in this challenge! :D It seems really cool and just a little daunting! But well, I have the whole year to do this and I figure its a great way to expose myself to new books! :D Not just romances lol, I hope to read other books such as YA, adult fiction, chick lit, and maybe even more heavy books. As in, not easy reads like romances are. Something more in-depth and that will make me think!

The goal of this challenge is to read books by matching antonyms in the title. To help you out, here is a link to a couple of web sites to get you started:  Opposite Word and Thesaurus.



Your books can be of any genre and any format (ie. paperback, ebook, audiobook, etc.). No short stories. Re-reads and crossovers from other reading challenges are fine. (Re-read reviews must be written within the year 2012; you can not use old reviews.)



You can list your books in advance or list them as you read them. The idea of this challenge came from a Goodreads group. 





**Anyone can join. You don't need a blog to participate.

**Non-Bloggers: Sign up in the comments section. Post your reviews with other book sites (ie. Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Goodreads, Shelfari, etc.) and post the link in the comments section of the Antonym Reading Challenge Review Link. (will post January 1).
